My first White Wednesday!!

Hello everyone! I am linking up to my very first White Wednesday!!

Now I have never participated in a White Wednesday previously because I just do not have that much white in our home, unfortunately. Hubby really doesn't like white, and most of our furniture is wood or black. I plan on redoing a couple of pieces though, and really want to do a dark stain on top and white (or possibly gray) on the bottom.

I went around and took pictures of a few of the white knick knacks I have scattered around.. We recently did a big deep clean because we had someone come to look at our house so there isn't as much out as there was... but here are a few things!

First is the top of one of my book shelves ... I had to move the picture over so you could see the white cat better, and ignore the hubby's model plane -.- After Easter I took everything down and never really did re-decorate anything, I just kind of threw things around and didn't do much with anything.

My little white Goodwill bird basking in the (nonexistent) Pennsylvania sun amongst the plants on the window sill.
Some of my Willow tree collection sitting on a silver tray with fake pearls, heart gem stones and a key.

Top of my corner hutch with all my birdhouses and random country knick knacks
More Willow Tree scattered about..

Not too much white :(
I defiantly need to start adding some more.. lighten my color scheme up!
First I need to get the hubby more into the idea!

Thank you for checking me out, sorry my link up is a bit boring!

12 more days!

Until I am 24.
I may seem excited about this because of the exclamation point you see in my title.. but in reality, I am not. It's not so much the "getting older" part.. it's just that I never actually do any celebrating of my birthday. Every year my fiance and I will go out to eat and go to the movies, or to the zoo, or wherever else I want to go. I don't go out to bars or clubs or anything.. fun...

However, this year even though I have absolutely nothing planned.. I do have a list of things that I want for my birthday, and this rarely ever happens.. I NEVER know what I want!!

First of all, I'm getting another cat. We're going to go to the shelters in the area and try to find the purrfect match. I defiantly want an older/adult cat, one who has been at the shelter for quite some time. I am SUPER excited about this.

There is a Tim Magraw, Luke Bryan and The Band Perry concert at the end of this month that I REALLY want to go to. I didn't get tickets yet as I want to keep checking Craigs List to see if anybody has anything better than Lawn seats come up, if not I will get them off line.. or maybe have my mom get them for me.
There is another concert that I want to go to but its not until September.. but I think those concert tickets would be a good idea, thats less out of pocket money for me to have to spend.. or she can give me money to put towards them.. either way.

We only have 3 more months until Florida too, This is am very excited about. I am still not a fan of roller coasters, but I just can't wait to be away from here and just be able to relax, wake up and not have to go to work. What would be awesome would be being able to find a job while down there and NOT coming back to PA. HAA! I really don't want to *live* in Florida though, WAY too hot for me. But it would defiantly be nice to not have to come home... i'd just have my mom pack up our stuff .. and animals.. and bring or fly them all down to us hahahaha. (hey, a girl can dream right?!?!)

I need to get projects finished up too. I have a ton of little odds and ends projects that I really want to do, as well as re-doing the entry table.. It feels weird doing it since its something my dad made, but it would SO nice when it was done!

Ok, thats enough from me for now.. I will hopefully have some posts soon with my recent thrifts/finds and projects!

Weekend of shopping and yard sales

My day of shopping:

Bath and Body works: total $25.
I actually returned a few things, and ended up getting a few items that aren't pictured (too lazy to take another picture) I got the Pink Warm & Sweet spray (which is AWESOME.. I need to get the lotion now too.) a lip gloss and two other travel sized things that i needed in place of the things i got that I really didn't like.

CVS: Total $19, got $6 in ECBs.. I didnt get some of what I went for, i need to check my other store then get a rain check if they are out. I could've done WAY better with this but I just wanted to get everything done and did it all in one trans. Plus I got the Jergens which I wasn't really planning on getting.
Rite Aid/Walgreens
RA: $4oop have $3+UPR left over and got a $3 off $15!.. to only spend $4 total on 4 things of Axe spray is amazing to me.. Hubby goes through it like crazy too so whenever I get a chance to stock up i'll take it!
WAGS: $6.61oop got $3RR back.. was only $4.61 but I had to get something else to use my $.99 RR so I grabbed some beef jerky since it was on sale anyway.. $2 for a bag of jerky isnt bad at all either!

My weekend yard sale treasures... I was very very disappointed this weekend. The community yard sale that I've gone to for the last 3 years, and look forward to after each one and count the days until the next one was such a dud. There just weren't as many families participating this year and I got a late start.. I wanted to be there at 7 but got there around 930 and missed out on a few things that i wanted. I just wasn't in the groove. Theres even a book sale that I was so pumped for, its always been the best book sale i go to all year and this year was just a huge let down. I didnt get ANYthing from there.

I got these mugs and a book from one lady. I have MORE than enough coffee mugs and we dont drink enough coffee for them. But I loved them and HAD to have them. They come in a nice storage box too! and i got a book that I dont have pictured.

2 christmas village pieces for $1 ea.

I also got a fish tank with everything included for $6. The one that I really wanted was sold by the time I got there. and I found another cute little one with awesome rocks, but no lid for $3, I told myself that id go back for it and if it was there i'd buy it but when I went back of course it was gone. But thats ok the one i have just needs cleaned up a bit and it will be perfect! I might spray paint the lid too, its purple and Id rather have it black.

FREE cat tree and advice on coffee table

So last night on my way home from work at 1:30AM I passed one of the houses down the road from me and out by their garbage was a huge cat tree. I stopped, turned around, did another drive-by. I was going to just grab it while I was out already but I went home to tell the hubby about it first since I didn't wanna just suprise him with this one.
So at 2am I went back out on a mission to snatch this bad boy up. Its SUPER heavy, still in really good condition, there are only two spots on it that are scratched up in the upper corner..
I vacuumed it good, snipped off all the straggling pieces that were ripped up and its good as new!

Hubby said Lucy would never EVER go on it, she was hissing at it at first, but then I caught her sleeping in there so I grabbed the camera. As soon as I walked over to take her picture she got up and jumped down like she didn't want me to catch her in there actually enjoying it.
I can't wait for her to realize there are more levels to it! And I am really hoping to get another cat this month. A local shelter is having free adoptions for the month of June and i've been wanting another kitty and my birthday is in July... Perfect present? YES sir! :)

*I just saw her getting back inside the house as I typed this. Im so glad shes enjoying it.
Now I just need to find the perfect place for it.. Id like to sit it in front of a window.. maybe in the computer room... for now its in the hallway haha.

Now.. on to my "project" that im not sure if we'll do or not...
We.. well.. hubby.. bought this table when we moved into our first apartment even though I have a perfectly AWESOME coffee table that my dad made at my moms house. He just didn't care for it as his 'living room coffee table" he wanted something more modern. (that coffee table will be coming back once we move again though.)
So he went to Levin's and bought a couch/coffee table/end table and rug. I was very proud of him since he did it all on his own, however i wasnt too fond of the table and end table (they are matching, i just didnt get a pic of the end table). I do like it, but black just gets so dusty and shows EVERYthing so easily, and im sorry but I refuse to dust every single day. nope nope nope.
I saw some pictures of the wood top with painted bottom tables. I plan on doing our entry wooden table that way, doing a dark stain top with a lighter bottom (not white, hubby HATES white *insert eye roll here*)
I brought it up to him about doing the coffee table that way also. Much to my suprise he agreed with me and said thats an AWESOME idea. He checked the table to see what it was actually made from, we should be able to do the stained top with light bottom, worse case scenario we mess it all up and ill just get the coffee table from my moms to replace it for now, or we;ll repaint it if its not too badly damaged.
However. This table has those two glass insert pieces (i tried to take the best pictures that I could of them) I dont know if wood and those pieces would actually look GOOD together. We were thinking that it wouldnt. It looks good because its on a black table.
So question... Would it actually look decent with a dark wood top? If not, any suggestions on what I could maybe either replace them with? or some other way to redo the table. Remember, no white because he hates white for whatever reason.
The glass sits in a little carved out insert in the table so we could maybe make something to sit in there.. or maybe even cover the glass up with something somehow.. maybe fabric? i didnt even think of that until just now.. but then again we do sit drinks and stuff on there, I bet the fabric would get dirty and stain.

any suggestions/opinions are welcome for this project!!!

Here we go a yard-saleing 6/4

So today was my first day out yard saleing this year. There were a few community yard sales. I spent a total of $12 on everything pictured, so im pretty happy with that!
I almost bought a 20 gallon fish tank, had everything included minus a stand (and fish) for $25, I was going to go back and offer her $15 or $20 for it, but I decided not to. There are 2 more huge community yard sales next weekend (and im sure plenty more, but there are two I NEED to go to) so im hoping I can find a tank somewhere next weekend!

This lady had a TON of americana/country stuff for sale. I almost bought everything on her table, but I controlled myself and only picked up these two plates, plus the candle and house pictured somewhere else below.
I got the two houses, plus the three little people decorations AND the Thomas Kincade house for only $4! My best deal of the day! I was going to get a couple of the other little things that she had but I passed them up.
This one had a price of $49.99 on it, got it for $1!
part of the $4 pack.
First house I got of the day, it was only a dollar.. never heard of the brand before but oh well! cant pass up the price! Ill have to look them up later.

Books! Not as many as I thought i'd come across. The top two were free, the bottom two were $1 for both.
My $.10 moose, I couldn't pass him up I thought he was adorable.
The other stuff I got from the americana ladies house. I have another house similar to this one in my kitchen window and I LOVE them so i had to have it when i spotted it. and i just love the little night light.

Thomas Kinkade house that I got with the other two houses and the 3 people for a total of $4, I couldn't believe she let this go that cheap! She HAD to have payed more for it unless she got it at a yard sale also! Its not christmas-y so im not sure what im going to do with this yet.

That's all for this weekends yard sales. Back to work tomorrow but I am PSYCHED for next Saturday. The one community yard sale that I am going to always yields me great results. PLUS there is a HUGE book sale there every year! Im counting down the days!!

Target/Goodwill/Walgreens trips

So I had a few trips to Target, Walgreens and Goodwill recently I thought that I'd share..
first was Walgreens (didnt take a picture) I only got a box of Advil and a box of Thermacare for $10.98 total, then i had a $5 off coupon. Paid $5.98 oop and got back a $5 RR. not bad and we can always use more asprins and stuff around here!

Target:
I had some clothes coupons that I really wanted to use but I couldn't find anything that I liked, so I walked around a little and got a few things.
My total before coupons was $20.16, after coupons it was $8.39 for everything pictured.
The only thing that I didnt have coupons for was the jar of pickles, but they were only $1.19 and I needed them.
Trip #1 to goodwill, 1 book, 2 shirts, a pair of American Eagle pants and a snowman christmas decoration (of course!) total: $9,

Close up of the snowman, I thought she was SO cute! I love the little details on her.
Trip 2 to my other Goodwill total: $8
3 bags of brown and red christmas balls $.69 each, 2 books - $1 each, 1 shirt $1.99 and one christmas ornament, its a gingerbread couple hugging and its a snowglobe - $.99, belt - $.99
i thought the ornament was a bit much but it goes perfect with the gingerbread theme of the ornaments hubby and I gave each other last year (totally by accident) but I plan on giving him this one next year. Its tiny, but its cute, and i really like it.

I was super excited to find these two books.. Wicked was there also but I know I can find that one at the upcoming book sale cheaper, I wasnt going to pass these ones up!

Im going to be posting some pictures of my coffee table. I have an idea of what i want to do with it, but I dont think it is going to work because it has inserts in the top of it so i dont think it will look right the way that I wanted to do it.. so id like some opinions from some of the awesome crafters around here! :)
